President Radev Urges for More Pragmatism in Regional Cooperation in Southeast Europe

Sofia, March 8 (BTA) - The common challenges and the perspectives for developing the regional cooperation were high on the agenda of a meeting Wednesday between President Rumen Radev and ambassadors of Balkan countries, Radev's press secretariat said.

Radev said that guaranteeing the common security, achieving high economic growth and improving the transport, energy and communications infrastructure connecting the Balkans require joint efforts and planning. Radev urged for more pragmatism in the work of the Southeast Europe Cooperation Process and in the coordination of concrete projects implemented with EU funding.

The diplomats participating in the meeting called for placing the EU enlargement process once again at the focus of the European polices, and supporting the applicant countries to progress along the path of their European integration. The diplomats urged that the question be included in the key priorities of the Bulgarian EU presidency in the first half of 2018.

Attending the meeting were the ambassadors of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro.
