GERB, United Patriots Expect to Be Able to Form Governmentby May 6

Sofia, April 18 (BTA) - Representatives of GERB and the United Patriots expect to be able to form a government by May 6. On his way into the Parliament building Tuesday, GERB deputy leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov said that the two formations are beginning talks on a coalition agreement "after Wednesday" and they only spoke by phone on Tuesday.

Tsvetanov even believes that it is realistic to be ready with a government by May 4.

GERB and the United Patriots will first discuss the coalition agreement, how decisions will be made and the structure of the future government, and only then will they discuss the government composition.

The leader of the United Patriots-affiliated Ataka party, Volen Siderov, said a government can be expected before May 6. "The situation is getting increasingly dangerous around us and we need stability," Siderov told the press on his way into a meeting of his parliamentary group.

He named Ataka's Yavor Notev as a likely pick for the position of Parliament deputy chairperson but said the nomination is to be decided jointly with the leaders of the other two parties in the nationalist coalition.

Siderov denied having any ministerial ambitions and believes he will be of more use in Parliament.

He said though that one of the United Patriots' leaders will likely go in the new government "because we have to share the responsibility and have representatives in the executive branch of power".

Siderov said that they will expect GERB to suggest what ministerial portfolios can go to the United Patriots.
