Foreign Minister Zaharieva Addresses EU Council Meeting in Luxembourg

Sofia/Luxembourg, June 19 (BTA) - Addressing an EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg on Monday, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva welcomed the progress achieved in the EU's cooperation with NATO. Zaharieva singled out the two blocs' joint actions against hybrid and cyber threats and in the field of information sharing, situational awareness, border security, migration control, and energy security.

She pointed to the need to expand EU-NATO interaction into other domains, such as the fight against terrorism.

The EU foreign ministers discussed the fourth report on the implementation of the Migration Partnership Framework. Zaharieva called for an enlargement of the geographical scope of the partnerships to include major countries of origin and transit of migrants in the Middle East and Asia.
