Sofia, December 21 (BTA) - There is a sharp change in the migrants' nationality, said here Thursday Border Police Director Svetlin Kichikov. If the bulk of migrants originated from Syria a few years ago, currently they mostly come from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, he said, adding that the migrant pressure has been reduced by over 80 per cent.

Interior Minister Valentin Radev partially attributes this to the bilateral talks with Turkey. The Bulgarian border is protected reliably, which is confirmed by all in the EU, he said. The most critical times for Bulgaria were in 2015, when there were over 90,000 illegal border crossing attempts.
