site.btaDefence Minister Orders Investigation into Military Helicopter Crash

Sofia, June 12 (BTA) - Defence Minister Krassmir Karakachanov has ordered an investigation into the crash of a military Mi-17 helicopter on Monday evening. The investigation will be carried out jointly by the military police and the military prosecution.

The helicopter crashed near the Kroumovo Military Airbase on Monday evening, killing two of the three crewmen. The two pilots, Captain Plamen Pantaleev and Captain Stoyan Nedelchev, were found dead.

The flight engineer, Officer candidate Alexey Kamenov, was found conscious and was taken to a hospital. He was reported to be in stable condition.
