site.btaHealth Insurance Fund Chief Will Have Term Discontinued Early

Sofia, June 14 (BTA) - The parliamentary healthcare committee on Thursday voted a draft resolution to discontinue early the term of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) Director Kamen Plochev. Plochev submitted a notification that in the past three months due to illness he was unable to discharge his duties and will be unable to do so for another month at least.

Daniela Daritkova, chair of the parliamentary healthcare committee, recalled that under the Health Insurance Act the fund's chief may be released from office early when unable to discharge duties for more than three months.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms did not take part in the vote. MP Nigyar Jafer said that the replacement of officials is meaningless and that the system itself should be reformed.

Also, Zlatitsa Petrova, head of the Medical Audit Agency, will be suspended from office until the conclusion of ongoing pretrial proceedings, Health Minister Kiril Ananiev told journalists. Earlier on Thursday, the prosecution said they had established violations at the Agency. Minister Ananiev said that he had not received any alerts.

The Inspectorate with the Ministry also audited the Agency but did not arrive at the same conclusions.

Minister Ananiev said that there wonТt be restrictions to radiation therapy for cancer patients.
