Sofia, June 18 (BTA) - Digital teaching means provide more opportunities for involvement in the education process of different stakeholders. The better cooperation with the business in this respect can attract many experts from the real economy who in turn can accelerate the process of digitalization of higher education, read some of the conclusions from a poll conducted by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) whose results were announced on Monday.

Digital teaching means are used in all university programmes but are most widely spread in the bachelor's and master's degree programmes, the poll showed. Computer lecture presentations are used by all universities who took part in the poll. Seventy per cent of the polled establishments of higher education have video streaming services, 50 per cent use teaching and simulation platforms, and 40 per cent have live chats during lectures. The universities taking part in the poll say that they offer access of e-libraries. However, the digitalization of education has not led to lower university fees.

University teachers are divided on the impact of the digital teaching means on student motivation - some says that face-to-face education is considerably more motivating while others do not think so.

Seventy-five per cent of the polled universities say that their faculty is accessible to students by e-mail or social media. Only a small portion of the universities are not sure how many of the faculty communicate online.

One of the recommendations of the BCCI poll is to work on the training of faculty to use digital means.
