Transport Minister Grozdan Karadzhov will meet with the heads of the railway companies, the Railway Administration Executive Agency and the National Transport Investigation Board, the Minister told reporters on Monday.
The meeting was prompted by Karadzhov's main priority - ensuring transport safety, particularly in light of a recent train accident and its tragic outcome.
Asked if he is planning to review the performance of caretaker transport minister Krasimira Stoyanova following a discussion with the Vazrazhdane party, Karadzhov said that a review would be in order, but it would not be limited to the term of the caretaker minister. It should also cover the activities of the National Railway Infrastructure Company and the two branches of the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) - BDZ Cargo and BDZ Passengers. He emphasized that the increasingly frequent incidents and accidents indicate a flaw in the safety system, and decisive action is needed to address the issue.
Karadzhov took over from Stoyanova on Thursday when Parliament elected a regular government.
