Shabla, Northeastern Bulgaria, July 28 (BTA) - Eleven kilometres of the 133-km wire fence along the border with Romania have been built as prevention against wild boars from Romania crossing over to Bulgaria, Agriculture, Food and Forestry Minister Roumen Porozhanov said on Saturday. Romania has outbreaks of African swine fever. In Shabla Porozhanov took part in a meeting where heads of veterinary and forestry units in Northeastern Bulgaria reported on the measures against the spreading of the disease.

Porozhanov said that nearly 500 workers of the forestry units take part in works for the fence and in round-the-clock monitoring of the movements of wild boars which are expected to come in once the harvest has been taken in.

Wild boar repellent substance will be distributed in the coming days 50 m apart along the border.
