Sofia, December 20 (BTA) - At its regular sitting on Thursday, the National Assembly adopted a resolution to close down the Ministry for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2018 and to relieve Minister Liliyana Pavlova of her duties as Cabinet member, effective January 1, 2019.

The reason for the Ministry's closure is the end of the rotational EU Council presidency of the Estonia-Bulgaria-Austria Trio on January 1 next year.

Presenting the draft resolution in Parliament, Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva thanked Pavlova for her work. According to Zaharieva, the establishment of a ministry for the Bulgarian EU Council Presidency has shown that the model is successful, and the assessments of the Bulgarian Presidency show that Bulgaria has done well.
