Sofia, December 28 (BTA) - In November, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 426,300, up by 2.1 per cent year-on-year, the National Statistical Institute said on Friday. The number of foreign arrivals was 575,200 or up by 3.4 per cent year-on-year.

In November, Bulgarian citizens travelled mainly to Turkey (121,000), Greece (73,800), Romania (40,700), Serbia (33,100), Germany (21,900), the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (20,900), Italy (15,900), Austria (15,200), the United Kingdom (12,600), Spain (10,100).

In November 2018, the number of foreign arrivals was 575,200 or up by 3.4 per cent year-on-year. An increase was registered of trips for other purposes (including as guest and passing transit) - by 7.8 per cent and for holiday and recreation purposes - by 0.6 per cent, while those for professional purposes decrease by 1.4 per cent. Transit passes accounted for 28.6 per cent (164,300) of all visits of foreigners to Bulgaria.

In November ЕU citizens accounted for 54.8 per cent of the total number of foreign arrivals to Bulgaria or up by 1.1 per year-on-year.

The visits of foreigners from other European countries increased by 7 per cent, as the highest growth was observed in the visits of citizens of Serbia - by 20.7 per cent.

In November 2018, the largest number of foreign arrivals came from: Romania - 130,100, Greece - 94,000, Turkey - 87,600, Serbia - 49,400, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia - 46,400, Ukraine - 16,700, Germany - 15,200, the United Kingdom - 11,500, Italy -10.800, Poland - 9,000. LN/PP
