Sofia, January 11 (BTA) - In the period January-October 2018, Bulgarian export to the EU increased by 9.7 per cent year-on-year, totalling 31,613.8 million leva. The main trade partners of Bulgaria were Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece, France and Belgium, accounting for 67.8 per cent of the export to EU Member States. In October 2018, export to the EU amounted to 3,466.3 million leva, up by 7 per cent compared to October 2017.

In January-October 2018, import from the EU increased by 7.6 per cent year-on-year, adding up to 33,267.5 million leva at CIF prices. Goods imported from Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain and Greece were in the largest amounts. In October 2018, import from EU Member States increased by 3.1 per cent year-on-year, totalling 3,673.2 million leva.

The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with the EU in January-October 2018 was negative, totalling 1,653.7 million leva. At FOB/FOB prices (after subtracting transport and insurance costs on imports) the trade balance was positive, totalling 449.2 million leva. LN/TH
