Sofia, January 17 (BTA) - Addressing the annual meeting of the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives in Bulgaria, Agriculture Minister Roumen Porozhanov said on Thursday cooperatives have a future in agriculture and the food industry due to their high expertise.
The debate on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) started during Bulgaria's EU Council Presidency and the European Commission presented three draft regulations in early June 2018, the most important of which is the CAP Strategic Plans Regulation, said Porozhanov, quoted by his Ministry. Each Member State has submitted its position on the draft documents but six months on, the amended versions are yet to come out. So as not to lose time, Bulgaria has started making a SWOT analysis which is to identify priorities and instruments.
Cooperatives are eligible beneficiaries under the irrigation measure, submissions for which can be made in May and June, said Yavor Gechev, head of the union of cooperatives. LI/DD
