Serbia, UAE Sign Memorandum
on Building Vaccine Plant
in Serbia

Belgrade - A Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation for manufacturing the Chinese Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine was signed here on Monday between the Serbian Government, the Chinese vaccine manufacturer and partners from the Unitated Arab Emirates (UAE), Tanjug reported.

The Memorandum is a first step towards building a vaccine manufacturing plant in Serbia, agreed on during Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's visit to the UAE this March.

According to Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, the plant should be ready by this year's end.

She described this as an important step forward not only for Serbia, but also for the whole region, since the vaccines will be closer, more readily available and will help in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. This is the beginning of a broader cooperaiton between Serbia, China and the UAE in the field of biomedicine, bioinformatics and the application of artificial intelligence in the pharmaceutical sector.
