The Korean multi-instrumental duo Olot has booked a series of concerts in Bulgaria, concert organizers Jam On The River said here on Tuesday. The musicians will perform at the UniArt Gallery in Sofia on September 13, in Troyan on September 15, in Shiroka Laka on September 17, and in Plovdiv on September 18. The event in Sofia is part of Sofia Music Weeks international festival.

Established in 2020, Olot consists of Hangil Kim (Piri/Saengwhang player) and Sunkyung Yoo (Haegeum/Yanggeum player). The duo's name is derived from the Korean word "olot-i," meaning 'intact without any shortage'. The word "olot" reflects aspiration to present the music "olot" in its entirety. The duo creates a soothing and introspective sound with a range of traditional Korean instruments.

"We believe this journey to Bulgaria will allow us to expand our artistic horizons and contribute to a meaningful fusion of Korean and Bulgarian culture. We look forward to meeting Bulgarian audiences," the musicians said.

The band's musical style combines traditional and modern elements, featuring minimalism and Zen influences. Their upcoming performance in Bulgaria will be their first concert outside their home country, said Sumi Kim, who coordinated the tour. "I hope these performances will provide a unique artistic experience for the Bulgarian audience," Kim said.
