Sofia, September 4 (BTA) - The latest edition of the Dunav Ultra cycling trip, mottoed Dunav Ultra Back to the River, brought cyclists from this and other European countries to Bulgaria's longest tourist cycling route for the eight year in a row. The official start of the trip along the 700-km long route along the Danube was given in Vidin on September 2, the finish line being the village of Dourankoulak (on the Black Sea).

The several-days event is not a competition but a personal challenge to cyclists aged 18 and over and a means to popularize the region with its rich history, traditions, and natural sights. Participants can join from any point along the route and move at their own pace.

The Dunav Ultra route connects Bulgaria's northwesternmost village, Koudelin, with the northeasternmost village, Dourankoulak, passing through or near 110 settlements.
