Stoyan Stoyanov is the new Director General of the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC), the press centre of the Ministry of Transport and Communications said Tuesday. He has been appointed by order of the caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications until a competition is held. By law, the Director General is also a member of the NRIC board.

Stoyanov is an expert with over 30 years of professional experience in the field of railway transport. Over the years he has held various positions in the railway system. In the period 2007 - 2021 he was director of the Electricity Distribution division of NRIC and manager of one of its subsidiaries.

Stoyan Stoyanov holds a Master's degree in Finance from the University of National and World Economy. He also holds a Master's degree in "Communication and Security Engineering and Systems" from Todor Kableshkov Military University of Transport.

By the same order, the Minister of Transport and Communications dismissed the former Director Maria Genova.

On August 2, caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov asked for the resignations of the Director General and the Chairman of the Management Board of the NRIC due to the increasing number of accidents on the railway network, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said
