site.btaTurkiye Significantly Increases Taxes on Goods Bought Abroad

The non-taxable limit for goods bought outside the country and for their express delivery has been reduced from EUR 150 to 30, by decree of President Erdogan published in the State Gazette.

According to the document, which will come into force in late August, the tax on goods bought by Turks in EU countries is increased from 18 to 30%, news website medyascope reported. Taxes on goods bought from other countries have been doubled from 30 to 60%.

Turkiye's Trade Minister Omer Bolat said on Monday that the authorities are taking action against the online retail chain Temu and other similar e-commerce platforms, local media reported.

E-commerce is widespread in Turkiye. Turkish citizens mostly buy goods from abroad through e-shopping platforms such as Amazon, AliExpress and Temu.
