Sofia, September 8 (BTA) - Bulgaria's unemployed people have
decreased by 58,730 so far in 2014, the Employment Agency
reported on Monday.
The unemployment rate stood at 10.4 per cent in August 2014,
down by 0.2 percentage points compared with July 2014 and down
by 0.3 percentage points compared with August 2013.
In August 2014, there were 342,503 people registered at job
centres as unemployed. Their number decreased for the seventh
straight month, falling by 4,746 people compared with July 2014
and by 8,935 compared with August 2013.
Among all registered jobless people, 25,032 (7.3 per cent) were
aged 24 and under (down by 8,449 compared with a year earlier),
and 57,051 (16.7 per cent) were aged 29 and under (including
those aged 24 and under; down by 13,779 compared with a year
earlier).
There were 132,942 unemployed people aged 50 and over in August
2014, which implies a decrease by 1,487 people compared with
July 2014. This group accounted for 38.8 per cent of the total.
The Employment Agency also reported that 12,746 people found
jobs on the primary labour market in August 2014, up by 1,907
compared with August 2013. This reinforced the lasting upward
trend of jobless people starting work in the real economy, year
on year.
The largest number of job vacancies on the primary labour market
posted by employers in August 2014 was in the manufacturing
industry, at 3,694, followed by trade, at 1,873; administrative
and auxiliary work, at 1,823; education, at 1,703; construction,
at 725; real estate, at 714; and the hotel and restaurant
