NHIF: Medical Insurance Revenues
in 2015 Budget
Are Unrealistic
Sofia, November 27 (BTA) - The Supervisory Board of the National
Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) on Wednesday warned that the 2015
draft NHIF budget envisages an unrealistic increase in medical
insurance revenues.
An increase of some 150 million leva has been budgeted and if
revenues come short of the target the Fund may go into deficit
by the end of the year.
NHIF's Supervisory Board objects to other budget parametres as
well.
The Board is expected to meet on Friday and within days it will
receive a package of measures from Health Minister Peter Moskov
on how to streamline NHIF's expenditures.
In a statement on Wednesday, general practitioners demanded that
primary out-of-hospital care expenditures are increased to 8
per cent of NHIF's overall health expenditures from the current
7.1 per cent.
In 2008, 15 EU states allocated 25-30 per cent of their
healthcare expenditures for primary out-of-hospital care. PK/PP
