Iraqi Artist Abdul Razak Yasir
Presents "Memory Cultivation"
Exhibition

Sofia, February 20 (BTA) - Iraqi artist Abdul Razak Yasir has
recorded the harsh reality of his homeland in an exhibition
titled "Memory Cultivation". The exhibition, hosted by the Union
of Bulgarian Artists, will be unveiled at 6 p.m. of February
23, the Union said. The exhibition will be on until March 6.

The paintings of the Iraqi artist are, above all, a historical
document of events, certain states of mind and dramatic
experiences. The exhibition features eleven large paintings.

"I painted these with the blood of women and children, the old
and the young, with their tears, suffering and pain, so that
they could be a history which will be cultivated in the memory
of Iraqis in the generations to come," he says of his paintings.

Abdul Razak Yasir was born in Nasiriyah, Iraq, in 1947. He
graduated from the Academy of Arts in Baghdad in 1972 and as a
Master of Arts from Hartford University, Connecticut, in 1983.
He is known for his numerous solo exhibitions and participation
in international festivals in the Middle East, the United States
and Bulgaria. PK/BR
