Agriculture Minister Taneva Confers with French Counterpart Le Foll


Paris, February 20 (BTA) - Agriculture and Food Minister
Dessislava Taneva conferred here with her French counterpart
Stephane Le Foll, Taneva's Ministry reported on Friday.

The Bulgarian Minister is in Paris to unveil the Bulgarian stand
at the international agricultural exhibition Salon
International de L'agriculture in Paris.

During their meeting, Taneva introduced Minister Le Foll with
the condition and specifics of the dairy sector in Bulgaria,
noting that the common problem for all Bulgarian farms are the
low purchase prices. Le Foll said he will initiate a working
group through the permanent representation in Brussels, which
will discuss the urgent measures for supporting the dairy
sector. The two ministers' meeting is a continuation of
Bulgaria's initiative for the European Commission to introduce
measures regarding the low purchase prices and for stabilizing
the sector.

Taneva and Le Foll voiced their satisfaction with the plans of a
French company to invest in Bulgaria. The company, which plans
to invest a total of 30 million euro, plans to base its
activities in the northern city of Pleven. Taneva told her
French counterpart that she has met with representatives of the
French investor and assured them that they will receive support
for carrying out their business plan. Le Foll described this
investment as being very important for the development of
bilateral relations.

Salon International de L'agriculture's guests and visitors will
be able to try typical for Bulgaria products and drinks, such as
banitsa, youghurt, dairy products, organic wines, rose
products, among others. Bulgaria will be represented at the
exhibition by nine companies.
