Prominent Hungarian Opera Artists
to Sing in "Tosca" in
Sofia


Sofia, March 31 (BTA) - Prominent Hungarian opera singers with
international careers will perform in Pucini's "Tosca" in Sofia
Opera on April 23 conducted by Plamen Kartalov. Soprano Maria
Temesi will play Tosca and baritone Michele Kalmandi will play
Scarpia.

The performance also includes prominent soloists of the Sofia
Opera, among them Kostadin Andreev, Peter Bouchkov, Anton Rade,
Antonia Ivanova.

Temesi was born in 1957 in Szeged. Still a student she won the
special award of Maria Callas at the international signing
competition in Athens. Since 1997, together with singing Temesi
has been heading the Chair for Vocal Studies of the Department
of Music in the University of Szeged.

Kalmandi was born in Romania. He started playing the piano when
he was six, and after that learned to play classical guitar.
Kalmandi became a solo singer of the Hungarian State Opera where
he plays all baritone parts. LY /ZH/
