Regulator Proposes Electricity Price for Household Users to Be Increased by 1.99% on Average

Sofia, May 29 (BTA) - A working group of the Energy and Water
Regulatory Commission (EWRC) proposes in a report that the
electricity distribution companies in Bulgaria increase the
price of electricity for household users by an average of 1.99
per cent as of July 1. The report has been published on the EWRC
website.

For the CEZ company, which distributes electricity to Western
Bulgaria, including the capital Sofia, the proposed hike is 1.53
per cent. For the clients of EVN in South-Central and
Southeastern Bulgaria, the figure is 1.22 per cent, and for
Energo-Pro in North-Central and Northeastern Bulgaria, 3.64 per
cent. ERP Zlatni Piasaci, which distributes electricity to the
Golden Sands resort, is asked to decrease its rate by 2.93 per
cent.

The EWRC report is to be discussed with the electricity
distributors at an open-door meeting, after which EWRC will make
a final decision at a closed-door meeting.

CEZ, EVN and Energo-Pro originally asked for a considerable
increase of the price of nighttime electricity by between 14 and
25 per cent.
