EPP President  Calls for Political Accuracy in Bulgaria

Brussels, June 10 (BTA Correspondent Nikolay Zheliazkov) -
European People's Party (EPP) President Joseph Daul urged for
political accuracy in Bulgaria on Tuesday.

"Bulgaria has come a long way since the coalition government led
by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov of GERB, together with the
Reformist Bloc, took over in November 2014," Daul said in a
statement. He recalls that a political alliance between EPP
member party GERB and the Reformist Bloc - among which DSB and
SDS were EPP members at that time - was particularly supported
and encouraged by him after the parliamentary elections.

Moreover, in order to strengthen and increase the cooperation
among the Bulgarian EPP members, the EPP, with the support of
GERB President Borissov and the Bulgarian EPP member parties,
granted Meglena Kuneva's Bulgaria of the Citizens Movement (BCM)
full membership at the EPP Political Assembly in Oslo last
week. BCM became the third EPP member party in the Reformist
Bloc.

'The determination to sustain the formation of a stable
government with the EPP parties united in one bloc was in the
interest of the Bulgarian citizens and has always been one of my
clear and highest priorities,' said the EPP President.

'Recent statements made by DSB leader Radan Kanev claiming that
the EPP insisted on the inclusion of the liberal Movement for
Rights and Freedoms are false and misrepresentative.'

The EPP rejects such claims and calls for political accuracy and
abstaining from erroneous accounts.

'Our European political family has full confidence that Prime
Minister Borissov and his government will overcome internal
challenges, put in place the necessary reforms and lead Bulgaria
towards a better future for its people,' said President Daul.
