Financial Supervision Commission Chairman Mavrodiev Confers with Officials of US Federal Reserve System, Securities and Exchange Commission

Washington, D.C., June 12 (BTA) - Cooperation between Bulgaria's
and US financial institutions for the maintenance of financial
stability topped the agenda of Bulgarian Financial Supervision
Commission (FSC) Chairman Stoyan Mavrodiev in Washington,
Mavrodiev's Commission said in a press release on Friday.

During his ongoing working visit to the US, the head of the
Bulgarian financial regulator conferred with officials of the US
Federal Reserve System and of the US Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC). They discussed the role of the banks for
mitigating the effects of the financial crisis. At the SEC
Headquarters, Mavrodiev and his hosts talked about information
exchange on transactions in financial instruments, account
debits and credits, asset blocking, gathering and sharing
information on individuals and companies. Particular cases were
considered, along with the supervisory actions that can be taken
under the Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding Concerning
Consultation and Cooperation and the Exchange of Information of
the International Organization of Securities Commissions
(IOSCO), to which both the FSC and the SEC are parties.
