National Customs Agency Director Vanyo Tanov Dies

Sofia, February 29 (BTA) - National Customs Agency Director Vanyo Tanov passed away on Monday morning, the Ministry of Finance confirmed to BTA.

Born in Montana (Northwestern Bulgaria) on September 22, 1958, Tanov previously served as Director of the Rousse Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry (2002-2005) and as Director of the same Ministry's National Service for Combating Organized Crime (2005-2007). In 2004 he was awarded the rank of Interior Ministry major general. He headed the National Customs Agency between 2009 and 2013 and again since August 13, 2014. He is survived by a wife and two sons.
