Hospitals to Receive Lv 1.1 Mln in Equipment under Bulgarian Christmas Initiative
Sofia, August 12 (BTA) - By the end of October, nineteen hospitals across Bulgaria will receive 1.1 million leva in medical equipment provided through the President's Bulgarian Christmas fundraising initiative, the President's Press Secretariat said on Friday.
The 2015/2016 Bulgarian Christmas campaign was aimed to provide new cutting-edge equipment for medical diagnosis and treatment in children's intensive care clinics at regional and university hospitals.
The beneficiaries include seven hospitals in Sofia, two in Bourgas and one each in Varna, Dobrich, Kyustendil, Lovech, Pleven, Plovdiv, Asenovgrad, Sliven, Stara Zagora and Yambol.
Five per cent of child patients in Bulgarian hospitals are in critical, life-threatening condition which requires urgent medical aid.
Besides providing equipment, the 2015/2016 edition of the campaign has supported the medical testing, treatment and rehabilitation of 405 children. Requests for aid under Bulgarian Christmas may be submitted all the year round.
