President Juncker Has Full Confidence in Bulgaria's Constitutional, Political System - EC Spokesperson

Brussels, November 14 (BTA) - European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has congratulated newly elected Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, European Commission Spokesperson Margaritis Schinas said on Monday.

President Juncker has full confidence in Bulgaria's constitutional and political system and the fact that the Bulgarian government is outgoing, doesn't mean that Bulgaria will not be governed, said Schinas, adding that in the constitution of Bulgaria a government will be in place.

As regards the arrangements for appointing a new Bulgarian Commissioner, there is no specific deadline. Kristalina Georgieva is still a member of the college and a vice president and the Commission follows the institutional procedure.

When the EC President and the Bulgarian government decide on a name, then it will be on the next stage.

Juncker is sure that he will be able to engage in discussions with the appropriate level with a view to nominating a new Bulgarian commissioner.

The EC spokesperson declined to say whether the President Juncker will push for another woman on the Commission and whether the new Bulgarian commissioner will take on the responsibilities of Commissioner Guenther Oettinger who is succeeding Georgieva.
