Bulgarian President, PM, Foreign Ministry Condemn Attacks in Berlin and Zurich, Killing of Russian
Ambassador in Turkey

Sofia, December 20 (BTA) - Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov Tuesday condemned the attacks in Berlin and Zurich, and the killing of the Russian Ambassador in Turkey.

"We are deeply shocked by these ugly acts of terror in the days before Christmas. The wish to take human lives is beyond comprehension for us. In this sad hour the Bulgarian people condole with the families of the victims and the suffering of the relatives of the injured, and the sadness of the German and the Swiss people," Plevneliev wrote in a statement. He went on to wish fast recovery for the injured and express hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

In a statement over the killing of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov, the Bulgarian Head of State expressed concern over yet another act of terror in Bulgaria's southern neighbour and the loss of a human life, and his condolences for the family of the victim. "No legitimate cause justifies radicalism and the killing of people, and such acts should be firmly opposed by the democratic community," he wrote.

Prime Minister Borissov sent a message to President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to express sadness for the lost life on behalf of the Bulgarian people and himself.

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry condemned the assault on Ambassador Karlov in a statement saying that nothing can excuse a killing. "We condemn all forms of terror and expect the investigation to identify the perpetrators and organizers of the assault. "We grieve for the victim and offer our condolences to his family and loved ones," the statement said. LY/LN/
