Sofia District Court Judges Appeal for Unity among Professional Community

Sofia, January 10 (BTA) - Judges from the Sofia District Court on Tuesday called on fellow judges not to allow a division between judges in Sofia and those the country. The Sofia judges warn about "the wrong politicized use of the fair discontent of the judges and staff of the Sofia District Court and the efforts to tackle excessive caseload and delayed court proceedings."

They call for the consolidation of all judges in order to improve courts' administration and formulate clear requirements for the activities of the judges' college with the Supreme Judicial Council.

The judges from the Sofia District Court recalls efforts to make caseload restrictions applicable and introduce a mechanism which will require immediate administrative decisions when a specific caseload is exceeded. In the appeal sent out to the media, the judges say that this matter should be dealt with urgently.
