Government Appoints 14 New Regional  Governors

Sofia, February 8 (BTA) - The Council of Ministers Wednesday appointed 14 new regional governors, the Government Information Service said Wednesday.

In Blagoevgrad (Southwestern Bulgaria), the position will be taken by Valeri Sarandev, a graduate of the Police Academy in Simeonovo and a master of law. Sarandev was previously deputy mayor of Gotse Delchev municipality.

The regional administration in Varna (on the Black Sea) will be headed by Todor Yotov. He is a graduate of the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy who subsequently headed the academy's International Activity Office. In 2008-2012 he was Bulgaria's military attache in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

Nikolai Yotsov will be the regional governor of Veliko Turnovo (North Central Bulgaria). He is a graduate of the Air Force University in Shoumen, the Air Academy in Kiev and is a master of economic management from the Vassil Levski Military Academy, where he also taught.

Momchil Mladenov will be the regional governor of Vratsa (Northwestern Bulgaria). He is a graduate of the Technical University in Sofia. He was deputy mayor of Vratsa municipality in 2003-2007. He is currently the manager of the utilities in the city.

Kurdzhali region (Southern Bulgaria) will be headed by Nacho Kovachev. He was deputy governor of Kurdjali from 2001 to 2009, a graduate of the Air Force Academy in Shoumen, as well as of the V. A. Rakovski Military Academy in Sofia.

Kyustendil region will be headed by Yordan Tatarski. A master of economy, he has many years of experience in the private sector. He has also worked at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.

The new regional governor of Lovech (Central Bulgaria) is Penka Nikolova. A master of regional development and management from Sofia University. She has worked at Lovech municipality, and in 2015 she was deputy mayor responsible for construction, architecture, urban planning and ecology.

The regional governor of Silistra (on the Danube) will be Petko Dobrev, who held the same post in 2001-2005. He is a master of history and geography from the University of Veliko Turnovo. He was also mayor of Alfatar and Doulovo municipalities.

Sofia Torolova will be the regional governor of Sofia region. She was deputy regional governor from 2013 to 2014. Torolova is a master in industrial management, as well a master in automation and IT control equipment.

The regional governor of Sofia will be Diana Tonova. A master in law she was deputy regional governor in 2013-2014. Head of department at SofiaТs borough of Vitosha.

The regional administration in Turgovishte (Northwestern Bulgaria) will be headed by Valeri Simeonov, who has held different positions in the municipal administration. He is an economist specialized in industry.

Minko Angelov will be the regional governor of Haskovo (Southern Bulgaria). In 2012 Ц 2014 he was deputy mayor of Haskovo municipality, before which he was municipal councilor.

The region of Shoumen (Northeastern Bulgaria) will be headed by Valentin Alexandrov. A master of pedagogy, he has specialized in public administration. He also previously headed ShoumenТs police department.

Georgi Chalukov was appointed regional governor of Yambol (Southern Bulgaria). He is a graduate of the University of Economy in Sofia. Since 2015 deputy mayor of Toundzha municipality.
