Central Election Commission Opens Procedure for Supply of Voting Machines

Sofia, February 11 (BTA) - The Central Election Commission on Friday opened a procurement procedure for the supply/rent of voting machines for the March 26 early elections.

The Commission will procure 12,500 machines at an estimated cost of 12.5 million leva VAT excluded and a maximum cost of 15 million VAT excluded.

Initially, the Commission decided to restrict machine voting to 500 voting sections across the 31 constituencies despite provisions in the Election Code. However, MPs of the Reformist Bloc challenged its decision and the court revoked it definitively.
