Prime Minister Details Findings of Ministries'  Audits

Sofia, February 17 (BTA) - Presenting the findings of audits of the ministries, Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdjikov said they did not establish violations of public procurement procedures at some of them.

He ordered the audits at the first meeting of the caretaker cabinet on January 30, emphasizing the need to check those procedures and offer measures addressing the violations.

The following ministries had no violations: of finance, of labour and social policy, of youth and sports, of environment and water, of agriculture and food, of education and science, of tourism, and of energy.

However, the Defence Ministry announced 113 procedures in 2016, 31 of which were cancelled. Violations were established in 45 of the remaining 82 procedures, including nine in which fraud and other serious violations are suspected. They have been referred to the Military Prosecution Office, said Gerdjikov.

Commenting on speculations about recent replacements of regional governors, the Prime Minister said the government's personnel selection decisions were transparent and fully compliant with the law.
