Sofia City Administrative Court Repeals Ordinance on Increase of Price of Public Transport Ticket

Sofia, February 22 (BTA) - A decision of a three-member panel of the Sofia City Administrative Court repealed Wednesday as legally non-conforming the ordinance vis-a-vis the terms and conditions for travelling with Sofia's public transport and the attachments to the document, passed last April by the Sofia City Council, the Court said in a press release.

The ordinance increased the price of a ticket in Sofia's public transport to 1.60 leva, from 1.00 lev. The prices of cards remained unchanged.

The case was instituted in pursuance of petitions by members of the public and by the Centre for Legal Assessments and Legislative Initiatives which challenged the ordinance in whole and separate provisions in it.

The decision is appealable before the Supreme Administrative Court.
