Bulgarian Interior Minister Meets with
EU Security

Luxembourg/Sofia, June 9 (BTA) - Bulgarian Interior Minister
Valentin Radev met in Luxembourg Thursday with EU Security
Commissioner Julian King on the sidelines of a meeting of the
Justice and Home Affairs Council, said Redev's Ministry.

The two sides discussed the priorities of the EU in the area of
home security.
 
Radev assured King that the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU in
the first half of 2018 will work in close cooperation with him
team for achieving sustained results for improving the security
of EU citizens.

The two concurred that now is the time to start a debate on how
to improve the efficiency of the information exchange. The
member states should be encouraged to fulfill the requirements
of the passenger data directive and use this instrument in
countering organized crime and terrorism.

Preventing radicalization, ensuring interoperability of the
information systems and the security of the cyber space are
among the key issues on the agenda of the Bulgarian Presidency
of the EU Council, said also Radev.
