Izmir, June 12 (BTA special correspondent Antoan Nikolov) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov Tuesday arrived on a working visit to Izmir at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim. Borissov has been invited to attend the unveiling of the Tras-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP).

During the meeting Yildirim thanked Borissov for accepting the invitation.

Borissov told his Turkish counterpart that during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 30 he had been informed of the talks about a branch of the Turkish Stream pipeline.

On the agenda was also the interconnector built by Bulgaria.

The expansion of the transit gas pipeline to Turkey between the compressor station Lozenets and the pigging facility in Nedyalsko is key to the existing connectivity of the gas systems of Bulgaria and Turkey, said Borissov.

On the Bulgarian delegation are Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and Economy Minister Emil Karanikolov.

After the meeting with Yildirim Borissov will leave on a working visit to Israel and Palestine. Minister Karanikolov will attend the unveiling of the TANAP pipeline.

The TANAP pipeline is part of the South Gas corridor which will supply Europe with natural gas from the Azeri gas field Shah Deniz. Initially, the 1,850-km long pipeline will have a capacity of 16 billion cu. m. of gas.
