site.btaEuro Group Backs Bulgaria on Its Road to Euro Zone

Sofia, July 13 (BTA) - At its meeting Thursday in the presence of Bulgarian Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov and central bank governor Dimiter Radev, the euro zone finance ministers discussed a letter of commitment sent by Bulgaria and unanimously declared support for Bulgaria on its path to the euro zone, the Finance Ministry said.

Sent on June 29, Bulgaria's letter of commitment for entry in the euro waiting room and the banking union, sets out its intentions for action in the area of banking supervision, the financial sector and the quality of government institutions.

The euro group finance ministers agreed that constructive discussions in recent months on a roadmap for Bulgaria's entry in ERM II have brought a successful result, the Finance Ministry said.
