site.btaParliament Supports Sofia Airport Concession

Sofia, July 18 (BTA) - Parliament rejected the Bulgarian Socialist Party's (BSP) draft motion to terminate the activities for awarding Sofia Airport under concession with 59 to 95 against and seven abstentions.

BSP and Volya voted in favour of terminating the procedure. GERB, the United Patriots and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms voted against or abstained, which in practice supports the Airport's concession.

Transport, Information Technology and Communications Minister Ivaylo Moskovski, who was in Parliament during the debates, urged the political forces to support the Airport's concession, explaining that GERB is delivering on its election campaign promise. According to him, the Socialists are rejecting a normal European practice for managing airport infrastructure.
