Sofia Municipal Councilor Boris Bonev (Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria and Save Sofia) on Tuesday said that Save Sofia could leave the three-party coalition which supported Mayor Vasil Terziev during the local elections in 2023, if they see no results in the way the Bulgarian capital is run.

"We entered this coalition and supported Vasil Terziev for mayor, so that there would be results. If there are results, Save Sofia will remain part of the coalition. If not, Save Sofia will not be part of the coalition", he said. He emphasized that the second year of Sofia's new administration will be a time in which "mistakes and accumulated problems will be cleared up, so that work can be done professionally, constructively and calmly". He pointed out that the party has a very clear to-do list and fulfilling or not fulfilling it will determine whether they will stay in the coalition or leave it.

Among these Bonev mentioned the adoption of the Sofia budget for 2025, the appointment of a new chief architect of Sofia, the signing of new contracts for waste management, maintenance of the street network and landscaping in the capital, as well as reforming the structure of Sofia Municipality and a full audit of the GERB-led city government.

Bonev said that he expects the priorities that Save Sofia have set to be the basis of a conversations and that he expects these to be free of emotions. "In the government of a city, especially when two million people depend on your actions, emotions are a bad advisor," Bonev said.
