site.btaVice President Iotova Opens Multifunctional Sports Ground in Taraclia, Moldova


A multifunctional sports ground at Gymnasium No. 3 in Taraclia was inaugurated by Vice President Iliana Iotova on Saturday.
She was joined by Association for the Support of Community Initiatives and Sports (A.S.I.C.S.) honorary chair Plamen Milanov, Chair of Taraclia District in Moldova, Lazar Dermenji, and Ambassador of Bulgaria to Moldova Maya Dobreva.
After the formal greetings and remarks by the project partners, students gave a short concert of Bulgarian folk songs and dances.
The project had a total value of BGN 111,695, with BGN 71,695 funded by the Bulgarian Development Aid Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Bulgaria in Chisinau.
The project was carried out by A.S.I.C.S. Additional funding was supplied by the Taraclia District Council (BGN 30,000) and the Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community in Moldova (ADBCM) (BGN 10,000).
Prior to inaugurating the sports ground, Iotova opened the 24th Ethnocultural Festival “Unity through Diversity” in the town during her visit.
On Friday Iotova presented the top award in a Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) essay competition for students from the Bulgarian diaspora in Moldova and Ukraine to 17-year-old Kseniya Decheva. The ceremony was held at the Ruse University branch in Taraclia.
