Zhivka Bubalova – Petrova has been nominated by the Little Bulgarian School in Chicago for the Saint Zlata of Meglen Award in 2025, the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad (EABA) said.

The nomination was supported by nine Bulgarian organizations in the Chicago area, with Bubalova – Petrova being the founder and director of the largest Bulgarian school abroad. "She has been the creator and driver of cultural, educational and social life in the metropolis for 15 years," the EABA emphasized.

“With energy, dedication and inspiration, she manages to unite hundreds of families, build a cultural and educational centre and turn Bulgarian holidays into a real event for the entire city,” the EABA stated..

 In October, the EABA will present its annual Bulgarian Woman of the Year – Saint Zlata of Meglen Award. Twenty nominations have been received from 11 countries. BTA will present the nominees in a series of articles.
