site.btaBulgarian Embassy in Addis Ababa Holds Meeting for Bulgarian Universities Alumni

The Bulgarian Embassy's Charge d'Affaires in Addis Ababa, Todor Vitev, met with leaders of the association of Ethiopian alumni of Bulgarian universities, most of whom graduated in the 1980s and 1990s, the Embassy said. The meeting took place on August 5 and was reported Friday.

Ten members of the association's executive committee attended the meeting.

The Embassy wrote on its website: "During the meeting, which took place in a very warm and friendly atmosphere, problems and opportunities for the development of cooperation between the Bulgarian Embassy and the Ethiopian alumni of Bulgarian universities were discussed. It was specified that some 500 Ethiopians have received higher education in Bulgaria. Mr Getachew said the new organization of Ethiopian students in Bulgaria was registered in May 2023 in line with the requirements of the Ethiopian legislation and is now gaining popularity among Ethiopians associated with Bulgaria."

The Embassy said it was proposed that such meetings be held quarterly in a wider format to seek opportunities for closer cooperation and mutual benefit from the development of Bulgarian-Ethiopian educational, cultural and economic relations.

The Embassy stressed that the Ethiopians expressed warm feelings for Bulgaria and their deep gratitude for the opportunity to be educated in Bulgarian universities.
