site.btaUPDATED Bulgarian Leaders Congratulate EP President Metsola on Re-election

National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry and GERB Leader Boyko Borissov Tuesday congratulated Roberta Metsola on her re-election as President of the European Parliament (EP).

Nazaryan noted that the re-election of Metsola is a worthy choice and well-deserved recognition for her as a politician. The National Assembly Chair considers that the next few years will be decisive for the direction the EU will take. In her words, to overcome the unprecedented crises and new challenges, the leaders of the European institutions must show courageous and strong leadership, foresight, wisdom and new political imagination. Nazaryan wished Metsola success in combining these qualities in the highly responsible post she holds.

Congratulating Metsola, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on the social network X, "We look forward to continuing cooperation for a strong and prosperous EU." 

Borissov congratulated Metsola in a Facebook post. “The decisive support you received for your re-election as President of the European Parliament is proof of your outstanding personal and professional qualities, recognized by all parties in Europe. As part of your political family, the European People's Party, we are proud of you and our sincere friendship", the Leader of GERB wrote.

Earlier on Tuesday, MEPs re-elected Roberta Metsola as EP President. She was backed by 562 MEPs in the 720-seat EP. Her rival for the presidency was Spaniard Irene Montero (Left).
