Merry Kerpitchian's debut solo exhibition in Bulgaria entitled Femininity was unveiled in Varna's Graffit Gallery on Friday. The exhibition is comprised of sketches, paintings and sculptures.
Kerpitchian used to live in Paris, but she returned to Bulgaria a few years ago. She told BTA that human bodies are an inspiration for her, because they are "the basis of academic figurative sculpture." She mostly uses bronze, clay and marble for her sculptures. Most of her artwork remained in France or is on display in galleries across Europe.
Kerpitchian is uncertain how her creative path will continue. She expresses this uncertainty of the future in her piece The Spiral of Life. The artist shared: "The spiral of life can be upward or not, it can be chaotic, it can be anything. The idea is to stay centred in oneself as much as possible and to be in one's wholeness."
