site.btaGood Mountain Hiking Conditions on Monday

The conditions for hiking in the mountains are good, the Bulgarian Red Cross Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) told BTA on Monday morning.

Temperatures are below 0C. Rain showers are expected. 

At dusk on Sunday, MRS received a call from a hiker who got lost between the village of Senokos and Zagaza hut [Pirin Mountains]. He received directions and managed to continue his way, MRS explained. 

Here's the mountain weather forecast by National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology: Mostly overcast. Light snowfall in the Balkan. Scattered cloud over the Rhodopes and the southwest, possible snow. Moderate to strong southeasterly wind. Highs: around 2C at 1,200 m, minus 2C at 2,000 m.
