The 41st Wizz Air Sofia Marathon will be held on October 13, the Association for Sport in the Free Time, which organizes the event, said. The entrants, who will compete in the 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km distances this year, are almost twice as many as in previous editions.
A new World Athletics-certified course will cover the western part of the city for the first time. Participants can choose from three distances: 10 km (GARMIN Run), 21.098 km (half marathon), and 42.195 km (full marathon). There will also be a 5 km fun run without advance registration scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on October 12.
This will be the first time the event features an entertainment programme across eight stages at the hottest points of the race course. The districts of Oborishte, Sredets, Vazrazhdane, Ilinden, Poduyane, and Lyulin will host music artists and circus performers.
The Wizz Air Sofia Marathon is an official member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races and Abbott World Marathon Majors.
