At a forum on European decarbonization policy, organized in the House of Europe in Sofia on Thursday, Chamber of Energy Communities in Bulgaria (CECB) Executive Director Elenko Bozhkov spoke of the need for a single energy communities register.
Bozhkov highlighted the importance of establishing a national body similar to Germany's Agency for Energy Communities to oversee these initiatives. The discussion focused on the technologies, barriers, and solutions related to energy communities in Bulgaria.
"Energy communities in Bulgaria face challenges due to the non-digitalization of low and medium voltage networks", Bozhkov said. He also emphasized the need for state policies that promote saving and reducing grid services to support these communities.
"Energy communities should be a pillar of the energy sector", Bozhkov added.
