Bulgarian swimmer Tsanko Tsankov's two gold medals won in the 200 m and 450 m freestyle events at the Winter Swimming World Championships 2024 in Tallinn, Estonia, have been recognized as world records, International Winter Swimming Association Chair Mariia Koskinen said on Thursday. An email sent to Tsankov read that the times he posted, 2:08.80 minutes at 200m and 5:21.59 minutes at 450 m, are the fastest in the history of the World Championships in the 30-39 age group.

Tsankov also took bronze in the 25 m ice-butterfly event at the World Championships in Tallinn, which brought together 1,012 swimmers from 41 countries.

"The Tallinn Championships were one of the toughest in Class A winter swimming, which makes the results even more significant," Tsankov said, adding that he is currently preparing for an upcoming swimming marathon in New Zealand and will give details on the event next week.
