Acting Bulgarian Football Union President Mihail Kasabov paid tribute to German football legend Franz Beckenbauer, attending his memorial service at Allianz Arena in Munich on Friday, the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) said. The event gathered numerous local and international football figures.

Kasabov, who was a longtime close friend of Der Kaiser, presented a commemorative wreath on behalf of the BFU, the Union’s statement read.

Beckenbauer, a former Bayern Munich defender, died on January 7 at the age of 78.
